What is the HSKK?

The HSKK is the official Chinese Speaking Test, run alongside the written HSK. Your spoken answers are recorded and graded. All instructions are spoken in Chinese, including three unscored warm-up questions (your name, nationality and seat number). HSKK results are valid for 2 years.

HSK vs HSKK: what's the difference?

HSK tests listening, reading and writing; HSKK (汉语水平口语考试) tests speaking only, through recorded responses. They are separate exams. There are three HSKK levels — Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced — aligned with HSK 1–2, HSK 3–4 and HSK 5–6.

How the HSKK is scored

Officially, graders rate each task type as High / Mid / Low; the total is out of 100 and 60 is a pass. Unanswered questions score 0, and the official part weights are not published.

The pass mark is 60 out of 100 (at every level). Most real requirements — for example, Chinese Government Scholarship applications — ask for HSKK 60, not a higher score.
