HSKK “describe a picture” (看图说话): sample answer & template
In HSKK Intermediate Part 2 you get a single picture — no text prompt — and about 2 minutes to talk about it. Here is a simple structure that works for almost any picture, plus a full sample answer.
See the full Intermediate guide →A 4-step template
- 1. Say what you see. Who is in the picture, where they are, and what they are doing — start with 这张图片上有… (“In this picture there is/are…”).
- 2. Add a detail. The weather, the mood, or an object — …看起来… (“…looks…”).
- 3. Give your view. What you think about it — 我觉得… (“I think…”).
- 4. Round it off. A general point with 虽然…但是… (“although… but…”) so you fill the time.
Sample answer
Imagine a picture of a family taking a walk together in a park on a sunny day.

这张图片上有一家人在公园里散步。天气很好,他们看起来很高兴。我觉得周末和家人一起出去走走很重要。虽然平时大家都很忙,但是应该多花时间陪家人。
Zhè zhāng túpiàn shàng yǒu yì jiā rén zài gōngyuán lǐ sànbù. Tiānqì hěn hǎo, tāmen kàn qǐlái hěn gāoxìng. Wǒ juéde zhōumò hé jiārén yìqǐ chūqù zǒuzou hěn zhòngyào. Suīrán píngshí dàjiā dōu hěn máng, dànshì yīnggāi duō huā shíjiān péi jiārén.
This picture shows a family taking a walk in a park. The weather is nice and they look happy. I think it's important to go out with your family on weekends. Although everyone is usually busy, we should spend more time with family.
Notice the shape: describe → detail → opinion → general point. Swap in the nouns for whatever your picture shows and the same frame carries you through two minutes.
